Jeff Hess

Development Partner

Jeff has been a Partner/Developer with Hawkins Companies since June 2015. Jeff was Hawkins COO/CLO from 1999 until he took on his new role last year. As the COO/CLO he oversaw the all development and legal operations for Hawkins. He has been with Hawkins Companies and its affiliate Hawkins-Smith since 1993 as their first General Counsel. Prior to his employment with Hawkins, Jeff worked for over 15 years as a licensed general contractor, the construction supervisor for Georgia Pacific’s northern California operations, and an adult education instructor. He has been a city and county planning commissioner, lobbyist and advisor to the Governor and Legislature of California. He also spent four years in the finance industry as a branch manager.

Jeff graduated summa cum laude from Washington State University in Political Science and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Idaho – College of Law. He was the Senior Editor of the Law Review and published a Note on energy pricing, on the Dean’s List and awarded the Order of the Barrister. After graduation, Jeff was a Clerk/intern for Judge Thomas Nelson of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and Clerk for Justice Cathy Silak of the Idaho Supreme Court.
